Bandaranayake International Airport in Sri Lanka


Bandaranaike International Airport (also known as the Colombo International Airport and Colombo International Airport) (IATA: CMB, ICAO: VCBI) is one of two international airports that serve the city of Colombo,
and the other is the Airport Ratmalana. Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport is located in the southern city of Hambantota is another international airport in Sri Lanka. Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, 0.22-mile (35 km) north of Colombo. Managed by the Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd. is the focus of SriLankan Airlines, the national carrier of Sri Lanka, Sri Mihin, the budget carrier of Sri Lanka.

Was named after the former Prime Minister SWRD Bandaranaike, in 1970 renamed the Colombo international airport in 1977, but it was changed to the Bandaranaike International Airport in 1995. 

On November 7, 1971 took the first Boeing 747 landing place, and was operated by Boeing 747-200B been carrying tourists German Condor from Frankfurt. 

In the early 1990s and turned the position of the runway (22/04) in the north foot runway to the old arcade Arrivals aircraft. 

It has recently been the implementation of the expansion projects at the airport under the Airport Expansion Project Phase 1, Phase II. As part of the program of development of the airport, was launched passenger train service between the airport and Colombo Secretariat station, in June 2010, it unveiled plans to expand the Colombo Colombo airport express train to Ratmalana International Airport. 
Emirates uses the airport as an airport emergency substitute for the Airbus A380 in them. 

On January 9, 2012, Airbus A380-800 run Emirates EK 413 from Sydney landed at the Bandaranaike International Airport. This is the first time in history that the Airbus A380 has landed at the airport in Sri Lanka. EK 413 had taken off from Sydney on their way to Dubai, but needs to stop to refuel. Was originally scheduled to refuel in Singapore, it was decided to land in Colombo instead. The exact cause of why the A380 needed to refuel unknown. 

On July 26, the appointment of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Sri Lanka police a new security system in the Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo to identify criminals. It is expected to help identify wanted criminals for the new system. 

Equipped Bandaranaike International Airport with 18 JETWAY double gates in preparation for airlines to provide Airbus A380. Emirates to fly A380 and to Sri Lanka in 2015 or 2016, publishing daily aircraft in service with Dubai Colombo.
